$50,000 audio-visual makeover in the works

Crafton Council has approved a contract with Hollowood Music and Sound in McKees Rocks for a full audio-visual upgrade expected to cost up to $50,000.

The Sept. 9 vote overturned an agreement approved two weeks prior with SMART Solutions of Pittsburgh that left several important items out of the bid.

“We found out the company that we had approved to go with had left some significant things out of their bid and wanted to raise it by about $20,000,” said Coletta Perry, council vice president.

“So, we went back around to the other bidders, and we have some items up for consideration.”

Perry said the McKees Rocks company became the lowest bidder once the additional costs were factored in, adding that they fit all the criteria. The borough did not resubmit a bid request on account of time constraints.

“They were in a position where they thought it was going to take too long. I think their timeline is 8-12 weeks at this point,” said Perry. “But, because their bid is under that $50,000, we do have a motion up to change our resolution from our last meeting and to approve this AV upgrade that is fairly identical to the one that we put up last meeting.”

Councilman Fred Amendola called the motion authorizing the contractual changes to the floor and all members voted in favor.
