Chase Bank gets green light at Kohl’s lot site

-BRIEFLY-

Robinson commissioners approved a site plan for the construction of a Morgan Chase bank branch near the intersection of Steubenville Pike and Campbells Run, during the June 7 meeting.

According to county records, the parcel where construction is due to take place currently belongs to Kohl’s department store, where it is used for parking. A review of the proposal prepared by Michael Meyer, township engineer, suggests the parcel will be subdivided to create a new site for the bank franchise.

At the recommendation of the planning commission, the board of commissioners also voted to deny a site proposal for a car detailing facility at 502 Glass Road and tabled another proposal for constructing a two-story commercial building within the Montour Church Place shopping center.

According to the engineer reports, both proposals complied with local zoning regulation.

Landslide remediation

A portion of Haddock Road liable to collapse is going to be reinforced through a $175,000 rehabilitation project awarded to C. H. & D. Enterprises of New Stanton, Pa.

The township engineer recommended the work, saying recent landslides in the area have put the stretch of road at risk of collapsing.

“Road collapse is close to imminent if we don’t work on it,” Meyer said.

While work is in progress, traffic will be detoured via Windhaven Road, Meyer said.
