Doyle announces retirement plans & navy honored

-LEGISLATURE-

After serving nearly three decades as a congressional representative for Pennsylvania’s 18th District, Mike Doyle announced plans to retire when his current term expires at the end of 2022.

Doyle shared the news during a press conference Oct. 18, where he said: “The time had come to pass the torch to the next generation.”

“Almost 27 years ago, Pittsburghers chose me to be their voice in Washington, D.C.,” Doyle said during his address. “It was an honor and privilege I never thought possible growing up in a blue-collar family in Swissvale, the son of a steelworker, but in America all things are possible.”

Navy honored

State Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37) passed a resolution in the state legislature Oct. 18 in preparation for the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps in 2025.

“Much of the history of these branches is based in our Commonwealth, so it is fitting to make Pennsylvania the host site of these important festivities,” said Robinson, a Marine Corps veteran.

“Philadelphia is rich with Marine Corps and Navy history, and the commemoration of these anniversaries will shine a well-deserved national spotlight on Pennsylvania and attract much-needed tourism to this region.”
