Elementary hires 'kick off' new Spanish program

-MONTOUR-

The Montour School Board has hired two new teachers as part of a new programming initiative to help all elementary students reach proficiency in Spanish before arriving at middle school.

Newly-hired Spanish teachers Martine DeSantis and Elizabeth Jones were hired by the school board April 21 to “kick off” the immersive language initiative that’s set to begin in the fall.

A press release announcing the programing in March said it is designed to give students “a competitive advantage in the workforce and generally within the culture,” in light of the rapid growth in Spanish-speaking Americans.
