Guest Column | State Rep. Dan Deasy | It’s been an honor to serve McKees Rocks

My time serving the McKees Rocks community is sadly coming to a close. Due to legislative redistricting, beginning on Dec. 1 I will no longer have the honor of representing the borough in the General Assembly. It has been my privilege getting to know the folks who live and work in McKees Rocks, and I have always taken great pride in their community since I took office 13 years ago.

In my early days in office, I had the honor of working with former Mayor Jack Muhr, Sister Sarah Crotty at the Focus on Renewal Community Center, and Father Regis Ryan, who founded Focus on Renewal. I will cherish the many holidays I spent serving lunch with Father Ryan and Sister Sarah at the community center.

I have fought hard in Harrisburg to represent the unique needs of McKees Rocks and bring millions of dollars in state investments back to the community. These investments were used for the Father Ryan Arts Center, the Roxian Theatre, improvements for sidewalks and crosswalks, extending Intermodal Way, blight remediation, and improvements for the McKees Rocks Bridge and Chartiers Avenue among other things.

I will truly miss serving McKees Rocks as part of the 27th Legislative District and I wish nothing but the best for the community’s future.

I also want to reaffirm my commitment to serving everyone in the 27th District. As always, please feel free to reach out to my office at (412) 928-9514 for assistance with any state-related matter and I will continue to do my best in representing your interests in Harrisburg.

Thank you!

Dan Deasy
