Kennedy Township added a second new officer to its police department Oct. 14 to bring the force to a full complement of 11.

After breaking for an executive session part way through the meeting to interview the candidate and reach a decision, the board returned and unanimously voted to hire John O’Donnell.

A Kennedy native and recent police academy graduate, O’Donnell scored highest out of three candidates for the position in the required standardized testing.

Two months prior, the township hired Officer William Gardner and indicated at the time they intended to hire another shortly after.

O’Donnell will begin work Nov. 1, subject to final background and medical testing.
