WPIAL FOOTBALL WEEK 4

OLSH 27, FORT CHERRY 6

The age old adage of "don't grow up too fast" certainly doesn't apply to this year’s Our Lady of the Sacred Heart football team.

Boasting only six seniors on their roster, the chargers are making their mark early in the WPIAL A Big Seven conference, laying claim to first place with an overall 4-0 record (2-0 in the conference) to start the season.

Fort Cherry are the latest victim of the Chargers’ winning spree, which concluded in a 27-6 thrashing on Sept. 24.

A fast-paced penalty-filled first half yielded a 0-0 score at the intermission.

Enter the second half, and the young but mighty Chargers suddenly woke up and found their stride, posting 27 points. Senior runningback Stephen Greer started the scoring frenzy with a five-yard touchdown romp and finished the game with 118 total yards rushing, with 77 of those coming in the second half.

Junior Quarterback Neimiah Azeem tossed for 300 yards passing, with 203 of those yards recorded in half number two. Wide Receiver Ziggy McIntosh hauled in nine passes for a total of 145 yards and one touchdown.

Hard-hitting defense sustained throughout the game was the key to the Chargers’s victory. They limited Fort Cherry on rushing and passing yards, and held them to a lone score, where the extra point attempt hit the bar for a miss.

If the Chargers keep up this torrid pace, they look on form to make the play-offs as a key contender and could certainly cause plenty of grief for opponents.
