Lifelong McKees Rocks resident, Nicholas "Nick" Radoycis Jr., 75, who was committed to serving not just his hometown but his county and country, as well, has died.

A reservist, he began a forty-year legal calling with the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in 1979 as an Assistant Public Defender. In 1985, he transitioned into a career with the District Attorney’s Office, appearing daily in court until his retirement in 2019.

In 1983, he joined the call as a member of the fledgling volunteer fire department in McKees Rocks.

He served as fire chief there for 28 of his 38 years with the department. During his tenure as fire chief, he stabilized and made the department financially solvent, according to his obituary.

In his later years, he served on the borough's zoning board and in 2020 became a member of the McKees Rocks Borough Council.

He will be remembered for his tireless commitment to Allegheny County and the Borough of McKees Rocks; but also for his willingness to help when and where needed. His final helping hand came in the form of organ donation.
