County investigates potential arson case in recent Stowe fire

Allegheny County police are investigating a possible arson attack behind a two-alarm fire in Stowe that injured four volunteer firefighters responding to the call Aug. 12.


According to local fire officials, multiple departments responded to reports of a burning front door of an Island Avenue residence shortly after 6 p.m.


After Stowe firefighters arrived on the scene, they immediately escalated to a two-alarm call.


The building's porch collapsed while crews worked to control the flames, injuring two Stowe firefighters and one from each of the McKees Rocks and Kennedy departments. One was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
