Focus on Renewal was singled out from among 170 applicants for a Highmark Rising Star award because of the nonprofit organization’s “unique ideas to impact community health.”
An inaugural group of 15 received awards Sept. 25 for exemplary programming and leadership through the new Highmark Bright Blue Futures Awards program, made possible by the Highmark Foundation. The honorees received grants, totaling $465,000 in celebration of the award program’s theme, “A Look at Health Equity, Social Determinants of Health and Philanthropy to Advance Community Health.”
Non-profits from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, Western New York and Northeastern New York, were recognized. Fellow honorees included The Poise Foundation in Pittsburgh, The Food Trust in Philadelphia, The Mon Health Medical Center Foundation based in Morgantown, West Virginia, Mainstay Life Services based in Pittsburgh and the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation based in Phoenixville.
