LOCAL GOVERNMENT MONTH: Neville Island named ‘Banner Community’

Neville Township has been named a 2023 Banner Community by the Allegheny League of Municipalities. They join multi-year recipients Carnegie, Crafton and Robinson Township.

For the past 11 years, the Allegheny League of Municipalities has presented the award to municipalities and authorities which have shown commitment to professional development, prudent fiscal management, transparency, accountability, and effective communication with residents.

This year, 84 different entities have been honored including multi-year Banner Community Authorities Alcosan and West View Water.

The Allegheny League of Municipalities is a nonprofit organization created in the early 1960s to coordinate the needs of the area’s local elected officials. In 1974, it was officially established as the Allegheny League of Municipalities to coordinate, advocate, and educate the hundreds of elected officials within its member municipalities in Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania. The organization educates elected officials, delivers essential resources, and advocates for sound policy and legislation.
